Success comes in many colors

I'm sorry I missed a few days of imparting my views on life, which may enlighten or confuse you. The latter being my major state of mind. Don't forget I got to ride on the little yellow bus and everybody got a trophy. That's probably where a lot of my philosophy of this life was formed. Man could not ask for a better education (woman too). And God loves me and you just the way we are. By the way, what color do you like? And as usual I got completely off the track. Them damn chickens keep jumping up. You ever try chasing chickens? You could be chasing one and up jumps another one a little closer. Diverting your attention, and your target. And then be danged if it doesn't happen again, up jumps another chicken. It happens to me all the time. I consider myself an accomplished chicken chaser. Just not a very good catcher. Because what I meant to say when I started this paragraph, was the reason I haven't been writing for a little bit is I have not been feeling well. Oh look, there's another chicken.

There is no such thing as a mistake. There's no such thing as doing something wrong. There's no such thing as fouling something up. Everything we do is just something we've done. The only way to really make a mistake or to fail is not to do anything in the first place. Every effort we put forth is usually done with the expectation of a good result. It doesn't matter whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. On occasion whatever we do may not work out the way we want. An example is the perfectly executed bank robbery, the one where you don't have to show any weapons, you don't frighten anyone, you just give them a polite note and politely ask them for all of their money, without indicating the possibility of them being in any danger. Then receiving a large bag stuffed to the brim with more money than you could spend in a lifetime. Then exiting the bank and jumping on your bicycle. Seems like a lot of successful bank robbers ride bicycles. Which makes sense because if they could afford a car and gasoline they probably wouldn't need to rob a bank in the first place. Peddling their little tail off reaching their hideout settling back and relaxing and allowing their nerves to calm, and with great anticipation opening the bag of money, pulling it out and stacking it on the kitchen table, something like sugar plums and lolly pops, like Christmas going through your head, reveling in their success, dreaming of the car that they can now buy and planning the next bank robbery. Only to have it interrupted by a low muffled explosion and an instant change in the decor and skin color from that which existed just moments before. Trying to figure out, depending upon which bank it was whether they like the new red or blue color of their surroundings and their skin.  Not to mention the money. Now they haven't necessarily failed. They've succeeded in doing exactly what they were going to do. The goal was to rob the bank. And they've successfully done it.

So you see, in this world success and failure are all a matter of perception, and in most cases dumb luck. What this person should have done was not to set his sites on robbing the bank, but to have just planned on how he was going to spend a lot of money. So you see the bank robber did not fail. He robbed the bank. The entrepreneur part of him didn't necessarily fail, he just had to figure out a way to use brightly colored money. That would be the true success. If he were able to figure out how to spend it. So next time you feel that you have failed in life just look around real carefully and if your hands and your face and everything around you are not red or blue then you have not failed. Unless of course you are painting your house! (on purpose). I guess what I am trying to say is that I see people judging themselves too many times as a failure when in fact they're truly a success and truly a dumb ass.

So all I can say is God Bless all of You and be sure you put down a drop cloth. Cover yourself with coveralls and be real careful opening that bank bag. (or painting the house).

Ah, the paradoxes of being human: Yes, I agree with you--we do seem to experience being both successful and dumbasses. Such a lot in life. Chicken chasing & fouling things up: futile endeavors, & yet we all do it. What's it all about, Alfie? Live to learn. Learn to live. So far this week, no big bang of color splattering me & my $. But then, it's only Tuesday morning. Thanks for sharing your insights in your wonderfully unique way.
